Applied Energistics 2 – Monitors

Set up your Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) monitors with ease by following this mod guide.

Good day, my friends. Today we will look at something we look at all the time. Monitors.

However, in this guide, it will be AE2 Monitors. This guide will be one of the shorter ones, so we can dive into the enjoyment called busses as soon as possible.

All monitors in Applied Energistics 2. From the left: Crafting, Conversion, and Storage. There is 10 Prudentium Essence being crafted at the moment, so it shows up on the crafting monitor.

Crafting Monitor

This monitor is an optional part of the auto crafting CPU multiblock. Just by looking at the monitor, you can see the final item that is currently being crafted, by the CPU the monitor is a part of, and the count of the item remaining to be made. This monitor does not cost you an additional channel, as it is already part of the multiblock which costs one channel no matter the size. By clicking the CPU button, you can swap between different CPUs that have an ongoing job. By clicking the cancel button, the job is canceled and all stored items are returned to the network.

The white items in the GUI are stored. This means, they are available and you don’t have to worry about anything. The yellow ones are scheduled, which means that they will be crafted as soon as they can be. The green items are currently being crafted. When you are starting a crafting job, an item can also be red. That means that you do not have enough resources to craft the resulting item.

Storage Monitor

Remember these old barrels, that one would just make a wall of and look at the large quantities one has? If you want something like this, a storage monitor is just for you. By right-clicking the monitor with an item, it’s icon will show up along with the quantity. Right-clicking with an empty hand resets the monitor to its default, empty, state. Shift right-clicking it with an empty hand will lock it, preventing anyone from accidentally changing the items. There is also a fluid version of this monitor, however, the lock function is still missing.

Conversion Monitor

“But I want to be able to get my items out of the storage monitors as I could have with the barrels.”
– Almost everyone
Go for it! The conversion monitor is allowing exactly that! It is an upgraded version of the storage monitor which on top of the display functions offers also the deposit and the withdrawal.
In the next images, you can see the difference between conversion (left) and storage monitor (right). As you can see, they are not much different in the looks. Both of the monitors have no item in them.

As I said, this one is a bit of a short one. But I hope it helped you nonetheless. Have a great day and see you at the next one! Stay safe!

Mystical Machines is a modded Minecraft network with the goal of keeping a small community, with few high-quality servers. We achieve this by having player caps on servers, keeping over 80% of the used plugins to be custom-made, and by only offering a limited amount of modpacks. Hosting only a few modpacks and keeping strict player caps on servers, allows us to keep the community small and not scale into a massive network.
Mystical Machines is run by Brend, also known as Rubbertjuh. He has over 8 years of experience in hosting Minecraft servers and was also the founder of ToastyNetworks. ToastyNetworks was a network that used to be one of the biggest modded Minecraft networks in the world but shut down recently. After retiring for a while, Rubbertjuh's interest in community management, plugin development, and modded Minecraft reignited.
